Our first date, and six years later...

Our first date was six years ago. I had made a recording of various artists for my friend Carrie. Out of all of the songs, a Nylons tune stood out the most. Carrie sent me an email about the tape, joking that she would love to see this group about hosiery in concert some time. Of all the luck! I had this ticket (well the whole thing, not just the stub) in my hands already! I asked her if she would like to go with me and that night became our first date. | ||
Nearly six years later, we're getting married. The wedding is still more than 4 months away, but I can already tell we will be in need of a stress reliever. Thanks to one of my groomsmen - Dan Waldheim, I run across the ad about an upcoming Nylons concert in Boulder, where my parents live. So I quickly buy two tickets, and tell Carrie to keep the date of March 7th open for a surprise that I would plan. I love to surprise Carrie. As luck would have it, we would later plan a Pampered Chef's party at my parents house for that very same day. So, after a fun day and a brief dinner with my parents and my grandparents (Gram and Gramp from Redstone), we headed to the surprise. I parked the car near the Pearl Street mall, and we walked from there on a very cold evening. We rounded the corner to the theatre and I stopped. Carrie looked up at the marquee, and the surprise unfolded. The Nylons were every bit as good as they were on the Friday evening in 1992. |
