Great day for my sports heroes

Tiger Woods wins PGA Championship

Tiger Woods - wins PGA Championship for 12th major. Tiger has replaced the immortal Michael Jordan as my current, favorite sports hero to watch and root for. I love his competitiveness, and the way he carries himself both on the golf course and off. My favorite comment during the weekend was - “His competitor’s are going to have to start wishing he re-constructs his swing again - it’s their only chance.” Doesn’t look like he needs to though, unless he wants to create a new challenge for himself.

Andy Roddick celebrates title with crowd

Andy Roddick, my favorite tennis player, wins his first tournament of 2006, and looks like the player that won the US Open in 2003 for the first time in quite awhile… just before the 2006 edition is ready to start. Andy Roddick is the player I can most relate to when I watch tennis, as when I played in high school, I relied on a strong first serve just as he does, although my serve was never clocked anywhere near his world record of 155 mph! I’m so glad to see Andy finally get his mojo back, and some new improvements - like finally getting a net game, after hooking up with another all-time favorite - Jimmy Connors, as a new advisor coach. Connors appears to definitely be making an impact on Andy’s tennis game and confidence.

Melo dunks against Korea

Carmelo Anthony, the star of my beloved NBA Denver Nuggets played another stellar game for the United States as they beat China in the World Games. He was named co-captain with LeBron James and Dwayne Wade last week, and the three young stars are growing up and attempting to bring back glory to USA Basketball, after some less than stellar performances in the last World Games and Olympics. Carmelo will also be attempting to do the same with the Nuggets when the NBA season starts up in November.

Thanks for the comment babe - always appreciated!

Unfortunately, the Rockies and their young starting pitcher will have to wait for another day to have their sports glory. :)
