Golfing with Pops
You all know how passionate I’ve become about golf in the past few years. The feeling of soaring a drive out there towards the nethers, and hopefully somewhere near the fairway, has totally replaced the natural euphoria that a solid volleyball spike used to give me.
So, late last year for my Dad’s birthday, I got the idea that it would be fun to share this with my Dad. I mean, we share a ton of other passions - computers, Nuggets, Sci-Fi moves, so why not golf?
Well, it had been over 20 years since we had played together, so it was a little overdue. Couple that with the fact that my Dad rarely plays, and I was really happy that he seemed to receive the gift of a glove, balls, and a free round quite well. So, today, I finally followed thru on the gift, with huge thanks to Grammy watching Tobey for the 4-5 hours that we played!
We played Flatirons Golf Course, which is literally walking distance away from my parents house in Boulder, and holds many memories for me since I played their quite a few summers as a junior golfer in the 80’s. The best part was that my Dad applied a few simple tips I gave him and had a stellar round.
Good enough to play again before another 20 years pass, right Pops?

Right Alan! Let’s play again soon! I think maybe twice a year. Thanks again for all the tips. I think I feel better than I ever have after a round.

So happy to hear that Dad! The tips paid off in multiple ways then… I think your ability to swing relaxed all day was a huge part of avoiding the normal next day aches and pains. Your score was better for it too! Will definitely look forward to our next round.
