PIZZA - the break-thru food!
For all of you parents out there with young children, struggling to get their kids to try new foods - this just might be the answer… pizza! (Or, any food that you can incorporate toppings with)
Tobey, our 2 and a half year old, discovered the joy of pizza about 2 months ago, and has slowly been asking for it more and more often. Hey, when you’ve been eating breaded chicken nearly every night for the past year, it’s a nice change of pace!
With few other meats and proteins in his diet, I am always looking for the opportunity to introduce new foods. Just last week, I got the bright idea to combine two foods that Tobey is already quite comfortable with - pizza and black olives. (Yes, its true, he’s loved black olives for quite some time… go figure) He loved it. This led to a new food, just this past week - tomatoes, after I convinced Tobey to try it on pizza. Usually, any time I bring up the idea of a new food, I get a very rapid and familiar response - NO!
Last night was the coup de grace - Tobey enjoyed pizza with black olives, fresh tomatoes that his Mama cut up, and chicken - all as toppings. Now how can I introduce macaroni and cheese on pizza? Luckily, he already likes soup! ![]()

Very clever and a great idea for all parents of two year olds who love to say, “No!”
I remember demonstrating this stage of life fact to others with one(I cannot remember which son) boy by asking, “Do you want___? of several foods, then inserting the ever popular _ice cream_!
And as you can predict, the child still responded, “NO!”
