Big Boy Bed/Potty Training

It’s been awhile since I’ve updated everyone on our two year old’s latest and greatest.

Tobey is working on a lot of “big boy” stuff right now.

Over the July 4th weekend, we went up to spend the night with Carrie’s friends Deb & Rob, and their daughter Tori. Tobey was to sleep in the guest room with Carrie and I on a blow-up mattress. He slept for a few hours, then woke up and cried for someone to sleep on the air mattress with him. I tried, but we basically went thru an entire night of waking up every 30 minutes or so. So, Carrie and I decided it was time to get out of the crib at home, so that future over-nights would not be so traumatic for Tobey and for us. Well, it’s been a long road, but Tobey finally “gets it”, and is doing great. He’s slept thru the night the past four nights in a row, and now when he wakes up he doesn’t feel the need to wander the halls looking for someone. He just goes back to sleep and its beautiful. He usually comes and finds me between 6:00-7:00 every morning, but one day this past week he found me at 7:30 and proudly announced “I slept in!”. He is still on an award system right now (a great suggestion from my cousin Deanna) so every morning that he doesn’t wake us up, he gets a new Hot Wheels car, which he proudly shows to anyone will listen the rest of the day.

The other big boy activity is potty training. This was started at daycare and Carrie and I have become more and more involved in the past few months. He’s now spending about 80% of the day in “big boy underwear” and mainly wears the diaper at night-time. He’s doing so well at school that they are moving him up a class (to be with mostly 3-year olds) in his daycare starting next week.

Way to go Tobey - Mama and Papa are very proud! :)
