27th Bolder Boulder
Ah, the annual running of the Bolder Boulder 10K on Memorial Day weekend.
For me, its a rite of passage, and many, many fond memories from past runnings.
By a rough guess, I’ve run 20 of the 27 races. This year, I ran it in 54:09, which is only about 80 seconds slower than last year.
You can track my times from the past 4 years, thanks to annual entries in my blog. (You can also track my getting older and hence, mostly slower!)
This year, I was the only runner representing the Switzer family. My Mom and Dad walked in a wave that was celebrating Erik Jensens’s marriage on Saturday. They had 15 people in their group and had a lot of fun. Of course, if Amy and Brian had been in town, they would have run it and toasted me. Actually, they are currently running around Italy.
Big thanks to my Dad for hanging with Tobey on the morning of the race. I had an early start and was able to hustle back to meet up with Dad and Tobey after they had dropped off Mom near the start of their wave. Afterwards, we had a nice brunch with Erik, his new wife, Lisa Jensen and their family, and several longtime family friends from Illinois who were in town for the Erik’s wedding.
Here are a few pictures from the event:

Tobey and I after the race.
Tobey plays “pizza delivery” at Grammy and Gramps house.

Tobey builds a delicately balanced block tower as Gramps looks on.

Of course the pictures with Tobey are the great-grandparents favorite part, but the information on the BolderBoulder, Star Wars, etc. is amazing. Oh, yes, it was great to get Amy and Brian’s letter and we even printed their around the world trip!

You go, you “old” (you baby you, who were one at my wedding!) man! Run, run, run! I have fond memories of the Bolder Boulder also - watched it once or twice, way back in the day!
