Happy Valentine’s Day (belated)
For a day-after-the-fact Valentine’s Day celebration, Carrie and I headed downtown for a night away from both home and business. The quaint downtown Denver hotel had been renamed and rennovated since we had visited a few years prior. Hotel Luna was a perfect spot for a weekend getaway. We caught ourselves referring to it as a “last” getaway before the baby comes, one way to look at it as we prepare for full-time parenting after being primarily weekday parents in recent years.
To maximize our stay, we showed up shortly after the check-in time of 3:00 on Saturday. We lounged away the afternoon and then prepared to venture out on the town for a nice dinner. A short stroll across the street to Il Fornaio was just what the doctor ordered for 7.5 month pregnant Carrie. Reservations were much easier to come by the day after Valentine’s Day, and we were quickly seated at our table. About 15 minutes later we had water that we had requested from the busboy and some bread that he brought. When we started noticing other tables that were seated after us were giving their orders to their waiter/waitress, we knew something wasn’t quite right. We were in such a good mood it just didn’t matter, and they made it up to us with a complimentary appetizer. Dinner was excellent. After dinner, we contemplated a walk on the 16th street mall, but opted for more lounging and a full night of sleep. Before going to bed, our room sprung a leak. The rennovations still had a few kinks and one of them was a mysterious leak above our room. The hotel staff did what they could and a bucket with a towel dampened the constant drip right in front of the bathroom sink. No big deal. On checkout in the morning, they were kind enough to reduce the rate of our room. The theme here (beyond the lounging) is that when hiccups happen, if you handle them with grace most businesses find a way to make it up to you.
With a sunny, unseasonably warm day on Sunday, we took that stroll on the 16th Street Mall to savor the last of the weekend.

Thanks for the story from your Valentine´s Day Weekend. It sounds like it truly was just want the doctor ordered.
See you soon! Love, Amy and Brian
